KASIA GAWLIK

About

Kasia Gawlik is an interdisciplinary artist working in the fields of music, ceramics and textile art.

Sound designer, vocalist, music producer, mixer. She has graduated from Goldsmiths University of London with a MMus degree in Music Production. She is interested in exploring the idea of space in music, both in recording and post production stages. Image is a huge inspiration, and often a starting point, in her practice. For a few years now she has been working with sound – in theatre, film and music. As a composer / sound artist / mixer / vocalist she has worked on films such as: Nie Ma Duchów w Mieszkaniu na Dobrej, Piękna Łąka Kwietna (both directed by Emi Buchwald), Ostatnie Pokolenie (directed by Mikołaj Borowy), Przepiękne! (directed by Katarzyna Priwieziencew), shows: 1670 (directed by Maciej Buchwald and Konrad Kądziela) and Morderczynie (directed by Kristoffer Rus) and several theatrical plays and installations at Teatr Współczesny, National Opera, Teatr Ochoty, Teatr Komedia, Nowy Teatr, Teatr Hożycy in Toruniu, Teatr Ateneum in Katowicach and Centrum Sztuki Dziecka in Poznań. In 2026 she received Jan A.P. Kaczmarek MARZYCIEL award at Kraków Film Music Festival. The Award Council recognised the composer for her exceptionally coherent and original musical language, combining sonic precision, formal discipline and the courage to experiment: „Kasia Gawlik’s work is distinguished by its subtlety, selectiveness and unique exploration of sound — from inspirations drawn from nature to acoustic experimentation and working with the very texture of sound itself”. She has been nominated for Best Film Music at FPFF in Gdynia, Festival Grand Prix Komeda and Polish Film Awards ORŁY (all for Nie Ma Duchów w Mieszkaniu na Dobrej film music). In 2022 she released her debut album Dream of Connection. Several songs from the album have got a spin on BBC Radio 6, NCCR, Glitterbeam Radio, North Manchester FM, TOK FM, Radio Nowy Świat, Radio 357, Radio Gdańsk and Chillizet Radio

Ceramic artist. She works at Ogród Sztuk ceramic studio in Warsaw where she co-conducts workshops and regular classes. In 2025 she received an artistic scholarship from the City of Warsaw to carry out a project called Echoes of Ceramics encompassing both music and ceramics. For a year she has been building ceramic forms and recording sounds they made after being fired up. Using the recorded material she wrote five musical compositions. She showcased the ceramic sculptures and the compositions at the Echoes of Ceramics exhibition that took place in Prześwit – Kolektywna Instytucja Kultury in Warsaw. Together with Marek Idzikowski they founded PARA WODA (STEAM) ceramics where they share their individual and collective ceramic works. Lately they have been fascinated by wild clay and wood-fired ceramics.

Textile artist. Knitter, crocheter, sewist. She has completed extensive courses in yarn spinning, weaving and natural dyeing. She is interested in the entire process of making fabrics and yarn, from harvesting and gathering fibers through processing (cleaning, spinning, dyeing, weaving) to a ready product. She works only with natural fibers, plant-based cotton, flax, hemp, jute, ramie and animal-based wool, alpaca and mohair. She used to work for Saule Wear brand where she knitted and crocheted clothes and accessories.
